The achievements of The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights, documented on this website, are the culmination of years of hard work by FTCR staff and volunteers.

Here are a few of the headlines that FTCR made in 2004:

Rx Express Riders Dramatize Prescription Drug Crisis
US Senate Blocks Bush's Limits On Medical Malpractice Victims
Shell Prevented From Closing Refinery and Manipulating Gasoline Supply
Insurance Policyholders Save $150 Million
Zip-Code Based Auto Insurance Premiums Challenged
Study Finds Politicians Kill Legislation By Not Voting
Wellpoint/Anthem Executive Payout Scam Leads To Payments for Poor
Public Learns Truth About Corporate Influence Over Schwarzenegger

We need your help to continue the fight. In 2005, FTCR will work to:
  • Make it cheaper to buy health insurance and prescription drugs;
  • Protect consumers from unjustified insurance increases;
  • Fight President Bush's attack on consumer rights and safety;
  • Hold Governor Schwarzenegger accountable when he serves the corporate interests;
  • Ensure that elected officials cannot avoid voting on critical issues;
  • Stop cell phone scams;
  • Force the nation's largest health insurer to pay $500 million in unpaid taxes owed to the people of California;
  • Regulate California's energy supplies;
  • Stop insurance redlining and force insurers to charge motorists based on how they drive, not where they live;
  • Promote greater corporate accountability;
  • Hold politicians accountable for their conflicts of interest.
But we simply will not be able to continue this work without the support of regular citizens like you.

While the insurance industry, HMOs, energy and drug companies have unlimited money to spend on lobbyists and lawyers, the Foundation operates on a shoestring budget that depends upon the generosity of individuals. Our advocates and public interest lawyers are outnumbered and outgunned every step of the way. But we win in the courts and in the Capitol by working harder than our opponents and because we are on the side of justice.

Please make a generous contribution to our work so we can continue this David vs. Goliath battle against unrestrained corporations and the politicians who work for them. All donations are secure and we never sell our donor list. And remember, donations to the Foundation are tax deductible.
