PUBLIC INTEREST ATTORNEY

The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights is a nationally-recognized, California-based, non-profit education and advocacy organization. Our work includes politics, health care reform, consumer protection, insurance reform, legal system reform, and other state and federal matters.

POSITION:
Staff Attorney

LOCATION:
Santa Monica, California

STARTING:
Immediately.

DESCRIPTION:
Represent consumers in litigation before administrative agencies and in court. Responsible for own case load involving numerous complex legal issues including: Proposition 103 enforcement; HMO accountability/insurance reform; consumer privacy; various legislative and consumer initiatives. This is a full-time position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two years litigation experience, preferably in public interest or similar organization. Demonstrated commitment to public interest and strong interest in consumer advocacy issues. Extremely strong written and verbal persuasive communication, computer research and word processing skills. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and administrative support.

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
