Oakland Automobile Premium Comparison


The following examples illustrate the disparities in annual automobile insurance premiums for the same driver with the same driving record, driving the same car with the same coverage, changing only the driver's ZIP Code.

EXAMPLE 1 : Family of three: Male, age 51, driving 1997 Honda, licensed 35 years, no violations/accidents, driving 10,000 miles annually; Female, age 47, driving 1988 Chevrolet, licensed 31 years, no violations/accidents, driving 5,000 miles annually; and Male, age 19, driving 2000 Volvo, licensed 3 years, no violations/accidents, good student, driving 12,000 miles annually. They purchase $250,000/$500,000 bodily injury coverage, $100,000 property damage coverage, $2,000 medical payments, 30 days rental car coverage, $30,000/$60,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage with a $500 collision ded. and $250 Comprehensive ded.

EXAMPLE 2:
A single woman, licensed for 22 years, with no violations. She drives a 1996 Honda Accord LX sedan 20 miles each way to work (16,000 annual miles). She purchases $100,000/$300,000 of bodily injury coverage, $50,000 of property damage coverage, $5,000 of medical payments coverage, and $30,000/$60,000 of uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage. She has a $100 deductible on comprehensive coverage and $200 deductible on collision coverage.

He purchases $15,000/$30,000 bodily injury coverage, $5,000 property damage, $15,000/$30,000 uninsured bodily injury coverage, $3500 uninsured motorist property damage. He has a $500 deductible on comprehensive coverage and $500 deductible on collision coverage.
