Assembly to Vote on Quackenbush-Scandal Reform

Advocates Concerned About Fate of Bill to Limit Insurance Company Contributions to Insurance Commissioner
The Assembly Elections Committee is scheduled to vote on SB 953 (Speier) Friday August 18, upon the adjournment of the Assembly or during the floor session. The bill would limit contributions from the insurance industry to the Insurance Commissioner.

"The public knows that banning insurance company contributions to the Insurance Commissioner is a 'no-brainer' in light of the Quackenbush-insurance scandal," said Douglas Heller, consumer advocate with the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights. "Today is the first test of the Assembly's willingness to fix the problems that they uncovered during the Quackenbush hearings."
